Builder Referrals
We want to make the job of building easier for our owners and for builders. One-third of PlaceMate Architects projects come to us via direct referrals from first-rate builders. One builder has been referring PlaceMate to his clients for over 20 years. Now, some of his apprentices now run their own teams and continue to refer clients to us. To date, we have designed the personal homes of seven builders. We highly value these important mutual relationships with our tried and treasured network of builders and other building trades.

PlaceMate architects design properties to conserve space. We create homes that feel bigger than they appear and ensure every square metre of construction earns it keep. When constructing renovations, we design new work to sit well with the old. Our goal is to generate finished products we are proud to have invested working on.

We fit the pieces of the puzzle together so we can explain it plainly to owners and builders. Where possible, we avoid box gutters, waterproof retaining walls and complex detailing. We aim to ensure the owners’ money is spent where it can be seen.

PlaceMate consults with builders to head off any building/budget problems early in the process. We are adamant about sticking to deadlines, and if a discrepancy, omission, or client change arises onsite, we will deal with it promptly. We aim to be as open and contactable as possible to build trust and speed up the construction process.

We provide simple, easy-to-read outlines for owners that explain what to expect in expenses, timelines etc. This ensures the guesswork is taken out of estimating costs and reduces the chance of on-site delays.
Documentation
In documenting the design process, PlaceMate ensures the BA and DA plans are clear and accurate to match engineering and survey. Schedules are short and comprehensive to suit budgets, and simple fit-out drawings are created for all trades to understand.
